Threatened by invaders from another universe, Earth's great nations compete for the technology that will ensure their survival. That technology is the "Landship," a device created by Robert Howard, inventor extraordinaire. Howard locks his invention in his office safe - but he isn't the only one after it. When a Russian spy infiltrates his home and is taken prisoner, Howard discovers that not only is she beautiful and charming - she is also wickedly talented! And with her help he manages to steal back what is rightfully his. But now they're on a mad dash across Europe to get to the safe before it's too late! The Russians are hot on their trail and if they don't make it ... the world will be destroyed! The movie was the first in a series of science fiction films from Suresh Productions in Tamil featuring Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan. A. R. Rahman composed the music for this film, while Jeeva was the cinematographer and Manivannan worked as an editor. The film's soundtrack was released on 12 October 1990 upon release along with Manivannan's "Kudisai". The film opened almost 1 year later after its predecessor, despite the latter being released 2 months before. The film was later dubbed in Telugu under the same title. The film was dubbed into Hindi as "Ek Aur Khiladi Ek Hasina" by Goldmines Telefilms in 2003, with Rajinikanth reprising his role in the Hindi version, while Sri Devi appeared in place of Sripriya. The film was also dubbed into French and released as "Coup de Poudre".
The film performed well at box office. The soundtrack had some super hit songs composed by A. R. Rahman, with lyrics written by Vairamuthu. The lyrics for "Thiruda Thiruda", a trademark of Vijaykanth films in Tamil, was written by Vaali. The following songs were composed by A. R. Rahman: Krishna Prasad composed the music for this film and like "Agni Nindu Varthai" (also directed by Agathiyan), the background score was provided by S. A. Rajkumar who had worked with Rajinikanth in "Mahanati" and "Muthu". The following songs were composed by Krishna Prasad: The song "Ennennum Kannin – Manasu Kannin – Kadhal – Kaatru" was a duet between Vijaykanth and his daughter Shruti Haasan, who made her singing debut with this film. This became the first instance where a father-daughter duo sang together in a Tamil film.
This movie was remade in Hindi as "Insaaf Ka Tarazu", starring Raj Babbar, Shilpa Shetty and Deepak Tijori.
